This presentation is a report from an expedition to megalithic site in Gunung Padang, Cianjur District, Jawa Barat, Indonesia. The functionalities of the site at the time it was built is still being questions and in ongoing archaeological research. Yet, the site kept a very rich architectural insights in it.

Music, or in narrower sense, melodic contours of the aesthetically arranged pitches and the respective durations attracts our cognition since the beginning and now shaping the way we think in the complex life of culture. From the works of mathematical properties of songs, we construct the phylomemetic trees of Indonesian ethnic and traditional songs. The memeplexes are then reflected by the used notes and respective durations as they exhibit the Zipf-Mandelbrot law, the gyration coefficient, “spiraling effects”, and the dynamic entropy shown in the structure

The paper proposes a way to see melodic features in music/songs in the terms of “letters” constituting “words”, while in return investigating the fulfillment of Zipf‐Mandelbrot Law in them. Some interesting findings are reported including some possible conjectures for classification of melodic and musical artifacts considering several aspects of culture.

The works on phylomemetic trees related to certain cultural artifacts of ethnic cultures in Indonesian archipelago is advanced by the proposal of methodology that can yield a cultural tree reflecting the superposition of traditional song, architectural designs, and motif designs in fabric phylomemetic tree.
